Signature Consultants’ President and CEO Jay Cohen joined a panel presentation on agency growth at the annual TechServe Alliance Conference & Tradeshow today in Las Vegas. The panel, “The Path to $100 Million and Beyond,” featured staffing industry leaders discussing their personal paths to success, agency growth and management strategies, and their outlook for the industry.
According to SIA, only 32 out of the thousands of IT staffing firms have exceeded $100 million in 2013. The CEOs and founders participating in the TechServe Alliance Conference’s panel presentation offered insights on growing a business in a challenging marketplace, diversifying beyond the core business, and other strategies to achieve their growth goals. Moderated by Mitchell Martin’s Amy Vasquez, the panel’s other participants included: Michael Winwood, CEO of Optomi; Dhar Patadia, CIO/Founder of Collabera; and Harris Katz, CEO of TekPartners.
Cohen highlighted his unusual career path from physician to CEO and his “do the right thing” philosophy. He shared his focus to build the business from the values perspective, not the transactions. “It’s critical to always know your values and who you want to be. Ultimately, they become your culture,” said Cohen. “Combine that with long-term thinking, and we’ve found mutual success for our clients, consultants and Signature.”
Signature’s unique culture is centered on Cohen’s original vision: to build partnerships and friendships internally as well as with clients and consultants. Cohen stressed the importance of investing in training and development, helping people play to their strengths, and empowering people by creating trust in the relationship.
The TechServe Alliance Conference & Tradeshow is aimed at top IT & engineering staffing and solutions firms and takes place November 11-13 at Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa in Las Vegas. Learn more at www.techserveconference.org.
