Job Summary:

Signature Consultants is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for an opportunity with a client located in Chicago, IL.

Network Administration:

  • Provide the required network support for the deployment of infrastructure network topology architecture, processes and reports
  • Investigate functionality issues related to application connectivity, security and system configurations
  • Work with technical application teams in the review, analysis and resolution to network related performance issues
  • Perform the required work associated with network administration, such as the installation and configuration of network infrastructure
  • The onboarding of network devices into monitoring and security platforms, and the implementation of maintenance processes that ensure the continued stability and performance of network systems
  • Work with other application and other technical teams in provide localized high-availability
  • Assist in the development of project plans, including related timelines, for the scheduled refresh and network version upgrades of existing systems
  • Maintain records of hardware inventory, software licensing, and handle RMA returns of obsolete or defective equipment
  • Manage and participate in the monitoring, optimization and diagnosis of currently deployed network systems
  • Provide the appropriate documentation to management, detailing the root cause analysis of outages, performance concerns, and propose resolution and optimization options
  • Work closely with the Manager and the Enterprise Network Engineer Security Team to plan, design, implement, support, and monitor that the security initiatives are being met for the organization
  • Collaborate with the Network Analyst Leads and the Enterprise Network Engineers /Architect to implement, configure, and support the AdventHealth Network Infrastructure
  • Assist in the initial capacity analysis, deployment design, and overall system architecture needed to support the Network platform and expected support activity
  • Provide the necessary support in the investigation and resolution of system level issues
  • Participate in business planning meetings to understand and recommend the best technical, most cost-effective, network solutions that meet initial capacity, long-term scalability and growth, and performance requirements
  • Serve as a resource for the Enterprise Network Analyst Team in the coordination and deployment of network related projects
  • Ensure that network milestones and deliverables are met according to the project specified timelines
  • Provide updates to the Enterprise Network Analyst Team Lead, Project Lead and Technical Lead on the status assigned projects
  • Mentor associate and intermediate analyst in the completion of their project deliverables
  • Submit status reports as requested to the team manager and verbally during team meetings

Requirements:

  • Minimum five years document previous experience in enterprise network infrastructure environments (>500 managed network devices)
  • Experience creating and interpreting architectural diagrams and transitioning them into operational configurations
  • Ability to leverage network instrumentation (i.e. WireShark, Syslog, Netflow, etc) to perform advanced troubleshooting operations in coordination with manufacturer technical assistance resources
  • Ability to create and maintain solution deployment and configuration documentation for distribution into technical teams
  • Manufacturer entry level certifications are expected. Specifically around Cisco (wireless and route/switch) and Palo Alto (security)


Position Specific Requirements:

Wireless:

  • Documented experience in operating and maintaining Cisco Wireless Management tools (Cisco Prime and/or DNA Center)
  • Documented experience in leveraging passive wireless surveying tools and interpreting its reports
  • Solid understanding of 802.1x authentication protocol and applications in wireless environment
  • Five years or more of documented experience managing multi-controller environment
  • Cisco FlexConnect deployment experience desired
  • Other vendor wireless experience (i.e. Aruba, Juniper) acceptable in lieu of Cisco experience

Security:

  • Documented experience implementing and managing Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls
  • Documented experience with perimeter security controls such as Web Proxies
  • Ability to leverage multiple security tools (SIEM, vulnerability scanning) to help isolate security incidents and implement proper remediation action
  • Must work with Enterprise Information Security team to understand minimum requirements and ensure new solutions are implemented in accordingly

Route/Switch:

  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot multiple routing protocols, specifically BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
  • Documented experience with any SD-WAN platform a big plus
  • Document experience with Cisco campus (Catalyst) and Data Center (Nexus) hardware family
  • Cisco ACI experience a plus



Administration:

  • Adhere and follow all change management policies to ensure that the work is documented and meets the organizational requirements. This includes the creation, submission, review, and periodic representation of complex changes in the weekly change management meetings
  • Document administrative items, projects, and support issues as needed to provide a reference to team members, other teams, and management
  • IAs with the change management requirements, all incidents and requests should adhere to the organizational requirements
  • Completion of the incidents and requests should also meet the specified SLT and SLA requirements
  • Both the technical and non-technical knowledge should be shared to team members in both a formal and informal manner
  • Sharing of knowledge helps the entire team improve their skills, plus builds a cohesiveness within the team
  • Whether it is through certifications, training, or conferences, employees should seek ways to develop themselves in areas that are technical in nature and non-technical where relevant to the current role held within the organization
